The New Super Food...Acai Berry!

Termed the new "super food", acai is the hottest new health food in the popular media. The health industry has been aware of the nutritionally packed acai berries for a few years now, but once the subject of acai berries hit the general population via popular television talk shows, acai has become knows as the best "super food" and its popularity has soared.
Acai berries come from the Amazon rain forests where the local people there have enjoyed the many health benefits of acai berries for many centuries. Only recently have we in the rest of the world come to learn about acai berries. These dark-colored little berries are so nutritionally potent that we can hardly imagine how just one food can be so completely healthy for us. We are truly amazed.
What is it about acai berries that merit the label "super food"? Well, let's compare the super food acai with other foods you may be more familiar with:
Red wine – you have no doubt heard about the recent studies that show the heart-healthy benefits of red wine. Red wine is good for your heart because of the high amount of antioxidants in it. Antioxidants serve the cardiac system. Acai berries have the same kind of antioxidants found in red wine. In fact, both dark red grapes and acai berries get their pigmentation from anthocyanins and this is the source of antioxidants which is so good for the heart. Acai berries have 33 times more antioxidants than red wine!
Blueberries – blueberries are good for internal systems because of the antioxidants. Again, we find this same antioxidant compound in acai berries. Acai super food however, has more than 25 % more antioxidants blueberries!
Whole grains – we are told to eat plenty of whole grains and other sources of fiber because the body needs fiber to promote a healthy digestive system. Fiber helps the body absorb the nutrients it needs from the food you eat and, at the same time, expel the waste you do not need. Acai berries have enough fiber in one serving to maintain a healthy digestive system.
This is just a sampling of comparisons we can make between acai super food and other healthy foods. The reason we refer to acai berries as a "super food" is because this one little berry has a nutritional profile that surpasses all other natural foods.
