Amazon Acai Friut, all about the Acai Berry

The Amazon acai berry may be new to the health industry, but it is not a new plant. Nor is the acai Amazon fruit new to the native people of the Amazon rain forest.

For over two millennia the native people of the Brazilian rain forest have known about the acai Amazon fruit and enjoyed its many health benefits. The Amazon acai berry has been eaten by Brazilian tribes for over 2000 years as a dietary staple. The people of the Amazon have also eaten acai berries as a preventive health supplement. They have also used the acai Amazon fruit to make antibacterial and anti-inflammatory salves to be used to treat infections, as a pain medication, and in surgery.

Acai Amazon fruit comes from Central and South America. It grows on acai palm trees that reach up to 30 meters in height. The Amazon acai berry is a small, dark-colored berry with a thick pulp and a single seed. It ripens very quickly and will rot soon after it is harvested. For this reason, the Amazon acai berry has been a long-kept secret of the rain forest.

The native tribes of the Brazilian rain forest eat the acai Amazon fruit as a fresh fruit treat as well as a part of their daily cuisine. They also make a variety of drinks from the fruit.

The acai Amazon fruit has an amazing nutritional content including fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Therefore, people of the Amazon have enjoyed the acai berry as both a dietary and a medicinal staple for many generations.

Thanks to globalization and advancements in processing technology, people all over the world can now share in the benefits of acai Amazon fruit. Due to the speed with which acai Amazon fruit ripens and rots however, most of us have to get the benefits of the Amazon acai berry via acai supplements in the form of acai extract, powder, and tablets. We are able to get all the benefits of acai Amazon fruit except for the taste and texture of the fresh fruit.

By taking acai extract, however, we are able to get more bang for our buck, so to speak, because we are able to take in a larger quantity than if we ate the fresh acai Amazon fruit like the natives do. Nonetheless, the Amazon acai berry is such a powerfully nutritious food that you simply can not go wrong when you include it in your daily diet.
