It is a good idea to cleanse your colon every so often because of all of the material that builds up over time. We have bacteria in our colon's, and it is a symbiotic relationship; they are supposed to clean it for us. However our diets have dramatically changed over the past hundred years to include trans-fats, heaps of processed sugar as well as all sorts of other additives. Neither our livers nor these bacteria are equipped to deal with it, and much of it ends up stored in the colon inside un-passed fecal matter. From there it is absorbed into the rest of the body and causes all sorts of problems.
The simplest and most effective way to cleanse your colon is a short fast except for liquids and a very high density, high quality fiber; psyllium husk being the best for this purpose. This will allow a powerful, yet gentle cleaning rather than an approach which is more like Drain-O that is sometimes used in colonics. It also allows you to cleanse your colon in the comfort and privacy of your home rather than an extremely invasive and uncomfortable enema.
A simple search of "colon cleanser" or "cleanse your colon" will bring up thousands of results, and it is difficult to pick through them or know if one is necessarily better than another. You can read their sites and look at the ingredients of course; but a better way might be to read reviews and speak anonymously with people on forums about the results of different colon cleansing products. What did they pass, how did they feel afterwards and what was the impact on their health? While the pictures may be somewhat unpleasant to view, and many do not look forward to passing it, it is much better to do so than to continue to carry it inside of you.
Continuing to carry multiple pounds of poison inside of you is obviously not going to be beneficial to any part of your life. It can result in a lot of digestive problems, headache, fatigue and problems with the nervous system since one of the main centers of the human nervous system is closely tied into the bowels. It can also help prevent certain diseases and conditions; while this is not confirmed there are very few doctors who would tell you that it is harmful. How often you should cleanse your colon varies from person to person, and depends on diet, genetics and a lot of other factors. Most experts agree somewhere between four to eight times per year is appropriate.
So, give serious consideration to the idea of some internal cleaning; I strongly urge you to try it. Once you have decided that you do want to cleanse your colon, give a bit of thought to how.
