The Future Of Alopecia Treatments

Alopecia will probably appear very suddently and quickly. If you have recently been diagnosed with alopecia and are concerned about the patchy bald spots that are quickly appearing on your head, you are no doubt seeking an alopecia cure. You can be assured that you can find an alopecia treatment as recent research has resulted in some very effective alopecia treatments. However, scientists have not yet discovered an alopecia cure, though they continue to research in the hopes of one day being able to cure alopecia.

Alopecia is the leading cause of hair loss. Alopecia is a disease that attacks the scalp and causes hair to fall out. Usually hair loss due to alopecia is rather rapid. Alopecia also tends to affect one side of the head more than the other. Alopecia can result in patchy hair loss over the head, total hair loss over the head, or even hair loss over the entire body.

Alopecia treatments today include one of two avenues: 1) you can either seek a medicinal form of alopecia treatment or, 2) you can try an herbal form of alopecia treatment. Keep in mind that at this point in time, these are your only two options as there is not yet any known cure for alopecia. Because researchers continue to look for a cure however, it is quite possible that in the near future we will be able to present data to support an alopecia cure.

Alopecia treatments target the immune system, the balance of hormones, and the promotion of healthy hair growth. Part of the cause of alopecia is that the body's immune system attacks hair follicles in such a way that they are not able to grow under normal conditions. Therefore, an alopecia treatment should block the chemical messengers in the brain that are telling the immune system to act in this way. In order to do this, the alopecia treatment needs to interfere with the activity of the white blood cells.

Another cause of alopecia is the body's over production of DHT. Therefore, an alopecia treatment needs to block the existing DHT from causing damage to the hair follicles as well as block the body from producing too much DHT.

There are some products you can apply topically to treat alopecia, but you need to be sure that it is made so that the treatment can actually penetrate the skin and get to the hair follicle. Some topical applications merely coat the scalp and hair and do not actually get to the source of the problem of hair loss.

Remember that there is not yet an alopecia cure, so any product that claims to cure alopecia should be avoided as it is not truthful. For the time being you need to focus on alopecia treatments. There are some very effective alopecia treatments available. Look for products that address the immune system's attack on hair follicles as well as block DHT and you should be well on the way to effectively treating your alopecia.
