If you are concerned about hair loss you may be wondering what the connection is between biotin and hair loss. There are several vitamins that will counter the process of hair loss. One very important vitamin is the B family, and Biotin is in this group. In fact, Biotin is sometimes referred to as vitamin B7.

The reason the body needs Biotin is that Biotin is necessary for cell growth. It also supports the formation of fatty acids and glucose; the body uses these to produce energy. You may wonder what this has to do with hair. Biotin and hair loss are interrelated by the fact that Biotin is required in order for the body to grow hair cells. In fact, it is one of the more important vitamins that promote healthy hair growth. If you have a Biotin deficiency, it will show up in the form of skin rashes and hair loss.

An interesting fact about Biotin is that it is a water-soluble vitamin, so if you get too much of it, it is simply flushed out of the body along with other waste. Therefore, you need never worry about side effects from taking too much Biotin.

Another convenient fact about Biotin is that it can be absorbed into the body via the skin. For this reason, hair care products that contain Biotin are also effective in battling hair loss. Shampoos, conditioners, styling gels, etc. can all be effective in your attempts to stop hair loss as the Biotin in these products will get into the body from the scalp and work to promote and maintain healthy hair.

Biotin is not produced by the body; rather it is taken into the body from food. Therefore, Biotin supplements are also needed as well. External application of Biotin alone will not be enough to be effective. Different people absorb Biotin differently however, so you should be aware that your body may not be able to absorb it like others. Studies have shown for example, that people with type A blood do not normally absorb Biotin. Also, if you take medications for heartburn or acid reflux, you may not be able to absorb Biotin.

For all others, however, Biotin is easily absorbed into the bloodstream and once there, begins immediately to nourish the cells and tissues in the body that produce healthy hair and nails.

You may want to get Biotin from your food sources instead of through a vitamin supplement. If so, you can eat green peas, egg yolks, brown rice and soybeans. However, you will have to consume enormous amounts of these foods in order to get enough Biotin. Therefore, Biotin supplements are certainly recommended in order to get enough for it to be effective in battling hair loss.

The connection between Biotin and hair loss is so great that anyone suffering from hair loss should begin adding Biotin supplements to their diet immediately. Keep with the regimen and you will definitely find that the words Biotin and hair loss do not belong together in the same sentence.
