Causes of Thinning Hair

If you suffer from thinning hair, be assured that you are not alone. Although there are no simple solutions to this dilemma, there are some basic causes of thinking hair and once you understand the causes, you can begin to decide on the best solution.

As already mentioned, the problem is a particularly challenging one that has stumped dermatologists. Nonetheless, this is an issue that touches millions of people around the world to greater or lesser degrees.

The causes of thinning hair may well have their roots in one or more of a variety of factors. Unfortunately however, there are so many factors involved that it makes it a complication problem to identify and solve.

Diet is a major cause of thinning hair. You may or may not be aware that various vitamins in your diet are responsible for ensuring healthy hair growth and keeping hair follicles in good shape. These include vitamins A, B and E. If your diet is lacking in any of these vitamins, you have probably come face to face with at least one of the causes of thinning hair. Dietary factors are indeed the most significant among the causes of thinning hair.

Vitamin A, which also acts as an antioxidant, tends to stimulate the secretion of the amount of sebum that is required to stave off dryness of the hair and scalp. If there's a deficiency, you should be able to feel the difference.

With Vitamin B, there may be any number of reasons that can be treated as causes of thinning hair, simply because there are so many B vitamins that play a part in preserving the quality of your hair. If the quantity of any of these falls short, you will be looking at evidence of another of the causes of this distressing condition.

Biotin (found in egg yolk and milk) and para amino benzoic acid are two of the B vitamins that play a major part in keeping your hair looking the way it should. Inositol and Vitamin B6 are two more B Vitamins that could well point the way to causes of thinning hair if they are lacking or deficient in your diet.

Finally, we come to Vitamin E which is responsible for keeping your blood circulation going to keep your scalp healthy. This vitamin also contributes to the efficiency with which your hair follicles are able to absorb oxygen from the blood. If there is not enough oxygen, you may end up losing your hair.

Therefore, as you can clearly see, while there are many possible causes for thinning hair, you should first consider your diet. Because diet plays such an important role in the health of your scalp and hair, you should examine the qualities of your diet to determine if that is the cause of your thinning hair.
