When a person first starts to loose hair, he usually thinks of external causes that often do not have any scientific backing such as using the wrong brush or hair care product. We usually do not think of hormonal changes or a hormonal imbalance when we first become concerned about hair loss. The truth, however, is that a hormonal imbalance is in fact, the primary cause of hair loss.
Hair loss hormones exist in the body, but what causes hair loss to translate into visible hair loss and eventual baldness is the over production of hormones, in particular, DHT. DHT is a hormone that binds with receptor sites on the hair follicle cells. The result of this binding is a decrease in the hair growing cycle which in turn, means that each new hair growth is smaller and thinner. Over time, this results in significant hair loss and eventually, baldness.
When hair loss hormones get off balance we need to take measures to reset the body's hormonal balance. This may mean taking hormone supplements prescribed by the doctor. You can also take natural ingredients to help balance your hormones such as Saw Palmetto, Dong Quai, or Nettle Root. These herbs have been shown in studies to be very effective in balancing hair loss hormones in the body.
Saw palmetto is a natural ingredient that promotes prostate health by reducing DHT. In fact, it is now the most commonly used ingredient in treating hair loss. This is because Saw Palmetto has a powerful effect on hair loss hormones.
Dong Quai is an excellent DHT blocker because it blocks the androgen receptors that help convert testosterone to DHT. Dong Quai also helps the body to limit its production of DHT. Nettle Root also helps to discourage the body from producing DHT. It does this by blocking the 5-Alpha-Reductase which is also what causes testosterone to be converted to DHT.
You could combine all three of these natural ingredients to fight the effects of hair loss hormones. There are other ways to combat the effects of hair loss hormones, but the most important thing to remember is that there are in fact certain hormones in the body that contribute to hair loss, in particular, the DHT hormone. Therefore, you should look for a natural way to restore balance to your hair loss hormones in order to slow or even stop the process of hair loss.
