With the dangers and adverse side effects of pharmaceutical diet pills people are looking into natural appetite suppressants to help them with weight loss. While the risks involved with amphetamine based diet pills has been well known for decades people were very surprised to hear that the all natural appetite suppressant and fat burner ephedra was also quite dangerous. So even when choosing natural appetite suppressants you need to do some research into what is both effective and safe.
One of the most popular herbal diet pills is a green tea extract supplement. Green tea works as a natural appetite suppressant in the same way that pharmaceutical appetite suppressants work, which is by stimulating the central nervous system. The difference is that green tea uses caffeine rather than amphetamines. This means that the side effects are much milder but so are the hunger reducing effects. Green tea does have side effects regardless of the fact that it is natural, and these are especially strong for those who have a low tolerance for caffeine. The side effects include things like restlessness, insomnia, raised blood pressure; generally what you would expect from a stimulant.
Another supplement which falls under the umbrella of natural appetite suppressants is magnesium. The logic behind this is part of having a magnesium deficiency is an over active appetite, and by replenishing magnesium levels in the body hunger will be significantly reduced. This logic is extremely flawed however, because it makes the assumption that all people overweight are suffering from a magnesium deficiency, which is simply not the case. The majority of overweight people do not have a magnesium deficiency, it is estimated only seven percent of all Americans are not consuming enough magnesium. A magnesium supplement as a natural appetite suppressant is simply not effective in the slightest bit for most people.
The newest natural appetite suppressant to become widely available is Hoodia. Hoodia is very effective in reducing hunger, though it does so by a different method than previous diet pills. Rather than stimulate the central nervous system which causes side effects such as restlessness, it fools the brain into believing that blood sugar levels are very high, which suggests that the stomach is full and no more nutrients are required. It is by far the most direct and effective way of reducing hunger. Hoodia as a natural appetite suppressant has no negative side effects and no interactions with other supplements or pharmaceutical drugs. There has also been recent evidence to suggest Hoodia can speed up metabolism so that you burn more fat. As far as natural appetite suppressants go, or any diet pills for that matter, it is the safest and most effective by far.
