Authentic Hoodia comes from deep down in the deserts of South Africa and Namibia. The plant is an interesting one, commonly described as a cactus it is actually a part of a family of plants called succulents. It is possible to buy pure authentic Hoodia from a handful of companies, but unfortunately there have been many products sold as Hoodia which turn out to contain no authentic Hoodia at all. There are a couple ways to tell if you are getting authentic Hoodia or not, such as looking for a CITES certificate and reading reviews about the particular product.
We have been told over and over again not only be marketers of the product but also in popular media that Hoodia is a new "miracle" diet supplement that will "cure obesity". Outside of this, many people don't understand what Hoodia is or how it works. It is not a fat burner or fat blocker, and Hoodia by itself won't make a bad diet any healthier. Authentic Hoodia is, however, a very strong appetite suppressant which works in a method which is unprecedented among diet pills. Rather than act as a stimulant, as all other appetite suppressants do from amphetamines to green tea, Hoodia takes the most direct and effective route in blocking hunger. When the hypothalamus gland in your brain notices blood sugar levels are low, it sends out a signal which results in the sensation of hunger. What a significant amount of authentic Hoodia does is fools your brain into thinking that blood sugar levels are high, which suggests to the hypothalamus that you are full. It greatly takes the suffering out of dieting, and makes it much, much easier to control the portion size of your meals. The problem with many diets is that they require a lot of will power from the dieter, Hoodia takes this out of the equation, or at least makes it a much smaller factor. The other thing that separates authentic Hoodia from other appetite suppressants is its safety. Pure Hoodia is all natural and has no known side effects. Unlike other appetite suppressants, Hoodia will does not act as a stimulant and will not cause feeling of anxiousness, restlessness or insomnia. It is also not addictive and carries no risk of overdose.
While there are ongoing efforts to find a way to synthesize the active molecule, P-57, these have so far been unsuccessful and it is difficult to say whether an artificial version would be as effective or safe. For now at least, the best option is naturally grown authentic Hoodia extract. While Hoodia was quite expensive when it was first introduced, farming efforts are catching up with the demand for the product and Hoodia is now more affordable; though you should be skeptical of any retailer or website offering it at a drastically reduced price much lower than any other source. It is likely they are not selling authentic Hoodia or they have mixed in a little bit of Hoodia with a lot of excess "filler". Other than looking at their ingredients page, I would again have to recommend reading a hoodia review. Authentic Hoodia can be a great help with your weight loss ambitions, so long as you do a little bit of research into the brand that you are buying.
