If you have heard that grapes are good for your health, you may not be fully aware of just what it is about grapes that is so wonderful. Actually, it is red grapes that are especially healthy. There is a compound in the skin of red grapes that has been shown to be rich in anti-oxidants that fight free radicals. What this means to you specifically, is that this compound found in red grape skin can help increase heart function as well as fight off diseases associated with aging.

Recently scientists have found a way to extract this compound known as resveratrol so that we can get a concentrated amount quite easily. Grape skin extract is now available in pill form as a natural dietary supplement. Grape skin extract is new to the health industry though the benefits of grapes have been known now for some time. Be aware that we are talking about grape skin extract, not grape seed extract. Some people mix these two up and research has not currently identified any specific benefits from grape seed extract, only from grape skin extract.

Grape skin extract is comprised of resveratrol. Although resveratrol is found in other red colored fruits such as strawberries, it is more concentrated in red grapes. In fact, resveratrol is responsible for the many health benefits associated with red wine, not so much so with strawberry preserves.

Grape skin extract is also very useful in achieving and maintaining weight loss. The resveratrol in grape skin extract somehow gives the body the results of eating a low calorie diet even if you don't actually reduce your caloric intake. If this sounds like a wonder pill, perhaps it is. In lab studies of overfed mice that were given grape skin extract, they did not gain weight. Testimonials by people who take grape skin extract echo this finding. In fact, people who take grape skin extract report weight loss and feeling trim and fit even when they increased their caloric consumption! And to top it off, many of these people reported these same results even when they decreased their physical activity.

You may be surprised then to learn that even though grape skin extract is so powerful in terms of weight loss and weight management that this is not the benefit from grape skin extract that is getting all the attention. The primary focus regarding the benefits of grape skin extract is in the field of anti-aging research. It appears that grape skin extract is beneficial in slowing down the signs of aging. The ramifications of this are explosive in terms of all the potential benefits.

Remember that grape skin extract is the source of this wonderful new discovery and do not get this confused with grape seed extract. Most important, however, is the results of grape skin extract in terms of human health. From weight loss to better and improved stamina to countering serious diseases such as heart disorders and Alzheimer's, grape skin extract is truly an amazing discovery. Scientists are working very hard to make a synthetic, pharmaceutical version of this substance available. But why bother waiting for that when a pefrectly good, all natural extract is already on the market in such products as Reveratrol Select?
